Why We’re Launching a Partnerships Division

The housing sector stands at a crossroads.

The UK Government has set an ambitious target to build 1.5 million new homes during this parliament. Local authorities face brutal budget constraints. And communities want genuine influence over how their neighbourhoods evolve.

Quite frankly, traditional delivery models are buckling under the pressure.

These are just some of the reasons we’ve seen the need for an organisation like SH Partnerships. To act as a community-led solution to overcome the challenge of how we build homes that actually serve the people and places they’re meant for.

Built on Decades of Heritage

For over 40 years, Shropshire Homes – an award-winning, independent homebuilder – has created high-quality homes and thriving communities across its founding county of Shropshire and beyond.

Now, with the launch of SH Partnerships, it is expanding that legacy into a dedicated partnership housing division, with a focus on real impact for people and places that need it most.

“This is a natural next step for us,” said Howard Thorne, Chairman of Shropshire Homes. “We’ve built a reputation for homes of lasting quality and distinctive character. SH Partnerships brings that same ethos to the partnership housing sector. Because the best housing isn’t just about bricks and mortar, but about understanding a place’s DNA and meeting the aspirations of its people.”

Richard Shackleton, Managing Director at Shropshire Homes, added: “Partnership housing increasingly means solving the challenges others avoid. SH Partnerships exists to focus on the sites that matter most, the projects that can truly transform neighbourhoods, and to deliver lasting value for communities.”

Community-Led Solutions

At SH Partnerships, we believe the most successful housing projects are co-created with the very people who will live in them.

That means no consultation exercises ‘just for show’. It focuses on deep, early, and ongoing engagement with residents, local groups, and civic leaders to shape developments from the ground up. To have a positive impact now and for generations to come.

Because who better to help craft a community’s future than the community itself?

We bring this ethos into every stage of delivery – from using local materials and respecting architectural heritage to supporting local employment and listening closely to lived experience.

The results are immense: higher satisfaction, smoother planning, better-rounded outputs, and homes that truly enhance both place and quality of life.

Collaborating Across the Chain

Delivering meaningful homes and places takes more than just good intentions, however. Today’s housing challenges, be it complex brownfield sites, green belt sensitivities, or dense urban infill, demand shared commitment and technical excellence. Meaning partners must be aligned in purpose, resilient in approach, and willing to work together over the long term to overcome and achieve.

That’s why we’re built around collaboration at every level, bringing together landowners, local authorities, housing associations, consultants, contractors, and communities to form joined-up delivery teams that are grounded in trust and shared goals.

We invest time to wholly understand the full physical, social, and economic context of every site. And we collaborate early, listen deeply, and move with intention – always guided by a clear mission: to deliver homes and neighbourhoods that meet real local need and stand the test of time.

What This Means Regionally…

This launch marks a bold new chapter for Shropshire Homes, expanding its reach while staying true to its underpinning values. As an extension of this, at the heart of SH Partnerships lies a simple truth: effective housing delivery starts with trust-based relationships.

In a sector defined by complexity and rising scrutiny, true partners are those who can unlock opportunity, manage risk, and deliver places that endure. That’s what we do. Because it’s not just where we work, it’s home to us too.

Our deep regional knowledge of planning systems, housing needs, political nuance, and community priorities gives us a real-world edge. We know which sites are viable, how to navigate challenges, and how to engage meaningfully from day one.

Across Cheshire, Shropshire, and Staffordshire, we’re already working with trusted partners on everything from sensitive infill to large-scale, mixed-tenure schemes. Each one rooted in one belief: successful delivery happens when commercial aims align with community benefit.

That’s our commitment – now and always. To build with purpose, partner with integrity, and create lasting communities where people truly want to live, work, and grow.

And we’re inviting partners who share that vision to join us. Let’s build legacies – together.
