Midlands housing developer SH Partnerships has exchanged contracts subject to planning with the promoter, CB Collier, and the landowner on a 4.5 hectare site in south Shropshire to deliver more than 100 affordable homes.

The land deal paves the way for a new development of affordable homes in Craven Arms, the site has already been submitted a detailed planning application in conjunction with CB Collier, the landowner and Savills.

The proposed development off Watling Street will deliver 103 new homes, ranging from one-bedroom bungalows to four-bedroom family houses designed to meet local need.

Chris Timmins, managing director of SH Partnerships, said: “Market towns have long been identified as places which traditionally lack affordable housing.

“This deal in Craven Arms will support a rural community to thrive and we’re working closely with stakeholders and planners to deliver this all-affordable home development in the coming months.

“There is a high expectation and high demand to develop affordable homes across the UK, as has been laid out by the Prime Minister in his announcement of a £39billion pot for the Social and Affordable Homes programme.

“To deliver on those plans, we’re keen to hear from both providers and landowners across the region interested in partnering with us to bring forward schemes.”

Edward Taylor, Director at CB Collier and Craven Arms Developments Limited, said: “We’re delighted to have exchanged contracts with SH Partnerships on the land at Watling Street. Craven Arms has a real need for affordable housing, and we’re excited that this scheme can deliver 103 high-quality affordable homes for local people.

“It has been a pleasure working with Chris and the team at SH Partnerships to prepare a detailed application that responds to local need. We share their commitment to getting spades in the ground, and we look forward to seeing the scheme move through planning.”

SH Partnerships launched in September 2025 with an ambition to deliver 1,200 affordable homes and house more than 5,000 people, using a 100 per cent local workforce.

The Craven Arms scheme is one of a number of developments SH Partnerships currently has under way or in the pipeline across Shropshire and the wider Midlands as the business continues to grow its partnerships with registered providers and local authorities to deliver affordable homes at scale.
